Anglesea / North Wildwood

Anglesea Homes for Sale

The town of Anglesea in the Northern part of North Wildwood

Did you know the town of North Wildwood once had the name Anglesea? During the 17th and 18th Century, the Hereford inlet was a common refuge for Whalers and Fisherman traveling up the Atlantic Coast. They established a small fishing village on the northern end of the Island and named it “Anglesea”.  With increased shipping traffic, the Hereford Inlet lighthouse was built in 1874 and in 1884 the West Jersey Railroad ran a rail line from Anglesea to Cape May Court House.  In 1906 as the neighboring town of Wildwood became increasingly popular as a Seaside resort, Angelsea wanted to be associated with Wildwood and changed their name to North Wildwood.

Anglesea is a mixture of condos, attached single family homes, Newly constructed Single family homes and large Condominium complexes with resort style amenities such as Seaboard Point.

The North Wildwood Seawall which runs along the Ocean can be found in Anglesea off Anglesea Drive and is about a 20 minute walk to 2nd Ave in North Wildwood. This meaning concrete path will take you past the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church and the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.

The real estate market continues to be very active with new construction popping up anywhere builders can purchase land. I’ve also noticed a lot of homes being raised above flood elevation so that they can be preserved and sometimes added onto which is exactly what we’re doing to our home in Wildwood.

If you’re thinking of buying your 1st investment property and getting into the rental market, Anglesea offers a lot of smaller 1 and 2 bedroom condos which make great summer or year round rental properties. There’s also a lot of newly constructed townhomes going up and currently available for sale.
